Western Ferries – Road closure update

Notice as of Friday 12th October

Western Ferries has been operating a core 4-vessel, load and go service since the closure of the Rest and the relief road since Tuesday.

It is looking likely that this disruption will continue until early next week, given the continuing weather patterns, and as such we have organised additional sailings through to Monday.

Given the ongoing terminal improvements at HQ and the resultant restricted marshalling area, I appreciate that this has caused, at times, a build-up of traffic around the terminal area, and we are working closely with Police Scotland to minimise any disruption to local residents. Can I thank the local constabulary for all their assistance in this regard.

The unexpected impact of traffic diverting from the Rest has been augmented, at times, by Argyll Ferries’ replacement bus service, however I hope that these additional sailings will help to minimise any disruption to the flow of traffic around the HQ terminal.

With an eye on next week, we are in constant contact with Bear Scotland and should the disruption continue, we will aim to continue to provide an enhanced level of sailings.

 Regards
