The community minibus service has been withdrawn due to the age of the minibus. In response to the Transport survey in 2022, Lochgoil Community Trust have been seeking to replace the current service with a range of more flexible options.
A reminder of the summary of the findings:
- The minibus is regarded by business users and those requiring group transport to events as a valuable asset
- Some significant community transport needs are however not currently being met, including:
- Local, low-cost transport for individuals and small groups
- Medical transport services
- Groups who don’t have a qualified driver
- Short duration, ad-hoc hire
In 2022 Lochgoil Community Trust unsuccessfully applied for funding for two smaller vehicles. Unfortunately, our volunteers have not had the capacity this year to revisit this application, but we have been discussing alternative solutions with Argyll and Bute Council and will let you know the outcome as soon as information becomes available.
One option that is already being used by people in the community is Interloch Community Transport. Interloch is a door to door, accessible community transport service which helps elderly and vulnerable people access medical appointments, shopping and social trips. They have saloon cars and minibuses based in Dunoon and Helensburgh. The service includes hospital journeys and Interloch will help you complete the NHS paperwork to claim back a proportion of costs. They are also available for group trips to Helensburgh, Dumbarton and Dunoon.
