Village Hall – Review from Iain MacInnes

Your Village Hall

The Hall Trustees have been looking back on the last 3 months and the support they have received from members of the Community.
In November, the old cooker and fridge were replaced with a brand new large cooker and fridge/freezer. These appliances were organised by Lorna and Jean from the Surgery at a cost of £950. They were both well used over the Christmas period for parties, lunches, etc and also helped the Scout Centre out in a time of need. Once further funds are available more will be done to upgrade the kitchen. Thanks to all who donated and volunteered their time to the kitchen project.

Around late Summer, Matt Montgomery, Iain Gray, Davie Moffat and myself started to plan and put our thoughts together to organise the Hogmanay Dance. Andy Hammon had kept the Dance running for many years and we felt it was right to keep this event going in Andy’s memory.

Matt Montgomery has put a lot of thought into rearranging, purchasing and fitting all the Main Hall lighting and sound effects. This new equipment will be a great benefit to the Hall for many years allowing it to be used for various occasions. The Hogmanay Dance was the first such event when the “new look” created a fantastic festive atmosphere entertaining 126 people.

My thanks to Matt & May Montgomery, David Moffat, Linda Till, Iain & Sheena Gray, David & Marion Reid, David & Janice Christison for providing the music, singing and the raffle and also to Angie & Mike who videoed the evening.

A Hogmanay Dance has to have a Bar and this was run extremely well by Tom & Jean Murray and Frazer & Lorna Boyd. Dean Hammon, the Piper provided some excellent tunes for the “Bringing in the Bells” and Aaron Moses accompanied me on the door. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to support the Hall and the Community to make it a night to remember.

On behalf of the Hall Trustees and the Community, I would like to thank you all for your support to ensure that the Village Hall is a place to enjoy.
