Meet the author

Boats and sailing have been my passion in life and since my early teenage years I have been “simply messing about in boats”, having owned numerous sailing dinghies and small sailing cruisers. On my retirement as a Ships’ Agency Manager in East Africa and the Middle East, where for 35 years I was involved with ships and the men who manned them, I have settled on the shores of Lochgoil off the Clyde Estuary where many of the greatest ships and yachts were built – The Cutty Sark, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, Shamrocks I and II, Sceptre and Britannia to name but a few.

Since my retirement my love of the sea, sailing and hull form led me to making accurate, detailed, traditional full hull and half-hull models of yachts and work boats. To date I have over 60 of these in my collection. Requests from friends to make models for them developed into my accepting commissions and for the last 10 years I have produced numerous models on this basis.
