LOCHGOILHEAD GOLF CLUB NEWS & RESULTS

The winner of the Sunday Medal played on 22nd July was Danny Butchart with a net score of 61. 

Christian Carvel was the winner of the Thursday Medal played on 2nd August with a net score of 55. 

Iain Gray and Stephen Moses were the winners of the Carrick Greensomes played on Saturday 4th August with a net score of 57.8, Danny Butchart and Ian Wilkes were runners-up with a net score of 63.4 and Stewart Lynch and Derek Gibson were 3rd with a net score of 64.6.

There was a great turnout for the Captain’s Day medal competition on Saturday 11th August.  The Captain, Jim Paton, thanked everyone for taking part and on behalf of the club, thanked Colin Smith, the Greenkeeper, for all his hard work over the season, the course was in great condition. Stephen Moses was the overall winner with a net score of 57, after a countback, Robin Hopkins was declared runner up with a net score of 58 and Eddie Murray was 3rd also with a net score of 58.  Christian Carvel was the winner of the Longest drive and Robin Hopkins was the winner of Nearest the pin.  After the presentation of prizes, golfers and their partners enjoyed a buffet provided by the club.

The Lochgoil Golf Club versus the Firemen Challenge Match was held on Saturday 18th August. The Captains picked their teams in Ryder Cup style and after a hard fought, but fun challenge, the members of the Scottish Fire Service were the victors on the day. Everyone that participated had a thoroughly enjoyable day. After presentation of prizes, everyone sat down for dinner in the Roy Rob Lounge/Restaurant.  Many thanks to Argyll Holidays for their continued support and kindly providing complimentary breakfast rolls and beverages

2’s recorded were as follows :-

Sunday 22nd July –  Kevin Wingate at 13th.

Thursday 2nd August – Billy Carvel at 16th

Saturday 11th August – Stephen Moses at 1st & 15th, John Wright at 2nd, Robin Hopkins at 7th, Christian Carvel at 13th, Colin Park and Billy Carvel at 16th.

Congratulations to all our competition winners and to everyone that had recorded 2’s on the course.

Club Mid-Week Outing

Falkirk Tryst Golf Course was the venue for the Club’s mid-week outing on Thursday 26th July.  The winner was Ian Wilkes with 40 points, John Wright was 2nd with 35 points and Ewan Hardy was 3rd with 34 points.

There was a great turn out for the 25th Anniversary mid-week outing to West Kilbride Golf Course on Thursday 23rd August. At the start of the day, there was heavy rain, not the light showers and sunshine forecasted, however the weather conditions did not dampen the spirits of the members and everyone had a very enjoyable day. The winner was Jimmy Gilmour with 37 points and after a countback, David Perrit was 2nd with 35 points and Alan Turnbull was 3rd also with 35 points.  David Perrit was also the winner of the Nearest the Pin.  Thank you very much to Jimmy Gilmour for organising the day.

The club’s next mid-week outing on Thursday 6th September, will be to Ranfurly Castle Golf Course, Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire. Tees booked from 11.00am onwards. Gala Day BBQ

A big thank you to Linda Till, Sheena Gray, Gayle Wingate, Jan Pattison and Esther Peacock for manning the Golf Club BBQ at the BBQ, although the weather conditions were not ideal, the BBQ stall was busy all day.  Thanks also to John Wright for transporting the BBQ to the Village Park.

We will be only too happy to let you have all the information that you require.  Our annual subscription is £40 and we have no joining fee. Green fees are payable direct to Drimsynie House Hotel.
