Hello Loch Goil Community,
Our food pantry launched on Saturday 18th April and what an overwhelming support of donations we have received.
Projects like this are not down to individual people, it is by everyone in the community coming together and ensuring that we look after each other.
I feel it is important to thank the community for the donations received to date, Costcutter and the village hall for providing furniture to stack and store donations. The community council for supporting this project.
Please remember this is why our village is not just a village and tourist attraction, we are a community of loving people who come together to look after each other.
Stay safe

What is our food pantry ?
- The food pantry is an opportunity for the community to come together and support each other.
- By donating food you are helping people within our community that may need help.
- We are also helping the planet by reducing wastage by donating products.
- It is important that everyone knows the food pantry is there for everyone and no one should feel scared or embarrassed to use it.
Where did the idea come fro
- Karen Pollock recently made an appeal for donations to support Dunoon food bank, and the response was amazing. As donations kept coming in and travel restrictions coming into play, this proved to be a challenge to drop off.
- Strachur Community created a food stop phone box and shared on social media so our idea formed from there.
Why the phonebox?
- The phone box is within the heart of the village.
- It is enclosed and sheltered protecting all the donations.
What can I donate?
- Any goods that you would normally have in your kitchen cupboards.
- Pet food
- Baking products
- Tins
- Juice
- Long life milk
- Hot beverages
- Toiletries for adults, babies etc How can I donate?
- Pop your donations into the phone box.
- Call 703 200 and we can arrange to pick items up from your front door, driveways etc so there is no contact and we will take to the phone box.
What can I take?
- Everyone is welcome to take anything.
- It is important for people to take items to ensure nothing is wasted and needing to go in the bin?
- Do you know someone who would benefit from a food parcel? Call us on 703 200 and we will make one up and drop it off.
How long will the project run for?
- The project will run during the pandemic of COVID 19.
- We would like this to continue long term in the respect of a community swap shop for food, books, dvds etc.
