Steve Murphy, Planning Forester, Forestry & Land Scotland will give a presentation on the 10 year plan for the Ardgartan Peninsula on Monday 24th February at 3.00pm in the Village Hall, Lochgoilhead. Please see attached link for more details LMP documentation on the FLS website.
The key documents are the draft objectives, the analysis and concept map and the management zones map. The latter indicates the very broad management aspirations for the plan and there will be some final tweaks to it (mainly extending the native woodland zone in the southern more inaccessible parts of the area).
The management and future habitats maps provide more detail regarding felling and restocking aspirations. Some of the felling coupes will be very difficult to work and require quite detailed operational planning. Emphasis will be placed on safety on sites close to property. Proposals for restocking include restoring ancient woodland sites, hence the large increase I the area of native woodland.
The plan will also include very broad indications of aspirations for recreation, landscape and biodiversity.
