LOCH GOIL COMMUNITY COUNCIL
19TH March 2021
Closure of Hell’s Glen
The Community Council has been in discussion with Scottish Woodlands and with Argyll and Bute Council about the lengthy closure of Hell’s Glen to traffic due to essential forestry operations.
The road through Hell’s Glen (B839) will be closed from Monday 22nd March from 8 am until 8 pm every week from Monday to Friday for the duration of the forestry work. This situation is likely to continue until the end of June.
Public access will be possible before 8 am and after 8 pm. As a concession, it has been agreed that the road will be open each day from 12.30 pm until 1.30 pm. This means that vehicles must be through the glen no later than 1.30 pm.
When Hell’s Glen is closed, the diversion will be through Glen Mhor (B824). We have been promised by Argyll and Bute Council that the Roads Department will improve signposting at the junction of the B824 with the A83 (RABT) and the Old Military Road (OMR), and also at the junction of the A815 and the A83 when both RABT and OMR are closed to traffic.
The public bus service 484 will be given access as required.
Members of the Community Council hold contact phone numbers for Scottish Woodlands in the case of emergencies. Enquiries can be sent by email to lochgoilcommunity@gmail.com
