Lochgoilhead Golf Club
The team manning the Lochgoilhead Golf Club BBQ stall at the Gala Day on Saturday 29th July were very busy all day supplying burgers and hotdogs to everyone that came along to the Gala Day and Raft Race. Despite the atrocious weather conditions, as you can see from the photo below, everyone that volunteered to help out on the BBQ were happy and had a fun time. A big thank you to Linda Till, Sheena Gray, Alan Howden, Gayle Wingate, Jan Pattison, Esther Peacock, Marjory Perrit, Alisdair Pattison and Alan Peacock – a great team effort.
Competition Results For July/August
The Fourball Competition played on Saturday 29th July was won by Neil Hyslop and Robin Hopkins with a net score of 58 and the runners up were Stewart Lynch and Alan Peacock with a net score of 60. Fantastic scores considering that the members played in torrential rain and strong winds which made playing conditions very difficult.
The medal played on Thursday 3rd August was won by Neil Hyslop with a net score of 58!
There was a great turnout for The Open Stableford in aid of Help For Heroes on Saturday 5th August. It was a dry day (for a change) and everyone enjoyed playing golf and socialising afterwards at the 19th (Fireside Bar). Kevin Yancouskie was the overall winner with an incredible score of 44 points, Kevin Wingate was declared the overall runner up with a score of 43 points and Stephen Moses was third, with a score of 42 points. A special thank you to the staff of Drimsynie House Hotel for all their support and for providing complimentary breakfast rolls and beverages before the competition commenced. A special thank you to Gayle Wingate for taking the entry fees, distributing mars bars and water to all the golfers.
The Club’s fundraising activities for Help For Heroes continued with an evening event in The Goil Inn. The Goilers very kindly provided the musical entertainment for all the golf members, family and friends. There was an auction for Passechedaele 100 Lapel Pin and a raffle on the night. Special thanks to the Goilers for entertaining us all evening, they were great. Thank you to everyone that donated raffle prizes. Thank you to all the staff in The Goil Inn and everyone that came along and supported the event. A special mention to Sheena & Iain Gray who donated money that Sheena’s late Mum, Sheena Yule had saved for Help For Heroes. Sheena’s Mum had donated money for a number of years to Help For Heroes, through the Golf Club’s annual event. A massive thank you to our main sponsor, Mr Andy McCunn of Lochgoilhead Taxis. Everyone had a fantastic day and evening and the phenomenal sum of £1,215.73 was raised for Help For Heroes.
