The Goil Masters Trophy
On Sunday 20th May, 9 golfers from Lochgoilhead Golf Club competed against 9 golfers from East Kilbride in the annual Goil Masters Challenge Trophy. This year was the 20th anniversary of the East Kilbride “boys” annual weekend trips to Lochgoilhead and to mark the occasion presented a beautiful claret jug as the new trophy for the competition. The staff at Drimsynie House Hotel kindly provided breakfast rolls and beverages before the challenge commenced. Match play was the order of the day and in a keenly contested round of 9 holes, Lochgoilhead were declared the winners. Winner of the Longest Drive was Andrew Jenkins and winner of Nearest the Pin was Kevin Wingate. After the golf, all golfers retired to the Fireside Bar for a round of sandwiches and, of course, a few plates of chips. Everyone enjoyed the day and agreed that the format for the competition was excellent and had made the competition interesting, challenging and great fun. Special thanks to the Drimsynie House Hotel for the use of the Fireside Bar and for providing the food and beverages.
